Student 10

Student #10 is 6-years-old.  She’s been taking a free children’s cheer class at church and loves it so much that she’s teaching herself cartwheels.  She spends most of her time practicing cheering and tumbling, and hopes to take an advanced class at Dance Elite in November to learn better techniques.  Her mom and dad have a household of young children and have recently moved in with her parents and are having a hard time making ends meet with his salary and the cost of living. Please help their daughter with Dance Elite class for 4 months that will cost $300.

Student 9

Student #9 is 14-years-old. He’s home-schooled at Texas Prepratory School — a public online school where he interacts daily with teachers and students.  Home-schooling was a requirement because his mother had a kidney transplant, and her doctors worried she’d be vulnerable to Covid-19 if her son returned to school.  He previously attended Jacobs Well Elementary and then Danforth Jr. High. He’s a bright student and now thriving with this program.  Her son’s an avid fisherman and would like to be a professional fisherman.  Mom is just now getting back to work and applying for jobs. She needs help paying for his Spectrum internet so that he can complete his school work.  She qualified for the Affordable Connectivity Program with the $30 credit, so their monthly bill will be $53.62/month.  Please help her son with 4 months of internet, costing $214.45, while she gets back on her feet.

If you’d like to help the family in other ways, please call or text 512-648-4400.

Student 8

Student #8 is 15-years-old and a developed artist for her age, winning awards.  She is a gifted high-school student, too, with As in her classes.  A family friend gave her a children’s guitar when she was ten because of her growing interest in music.  Student #8 has been longing to learn to play as a musical escape, especially from her worries over her mom’s recent health problems.  Her mom is a house cleaner and plans to be back on her feet in 8 weeks, earning enough to cover all her bills, plus a few extras for her daughter.  The guitar classes from a local teacher are $25/ week.  Please help her daughter with 8 weeks of class for $200.  The guitar she’s been using is in pretty bad shape, if you would like to donate a used adult guitar, call or text 512-648-4400.

Guitar with case — donated!

Student #8 is very thankful for a community member who donated two weeks of class and a generous local foundation that donated an additional eight weeks of guitar class.

Student 7

Student #7 is almost 11-years-old. He wants to play trumpet at Danforth Jr. High beginning band.  He passed audition and hopes to play the same instrument that his mom played in junior high thru high school.  Unfortunately, mom lost her trumpet in the flood, but another family member had one to give him.  They took it to Strait Music for a cleaning and tuning, which will cost $122.  A refurbished mouthpiece to fit his mouth is $52, and a tuner is $42.  Strait Music gave WGN a discount and does not charge sales tax to a nonprofit.  His mom needs the help because she has not been able to get child support and works full-time as a tank truck driver.  Please help her son, so that he can play the trumpet in band this 6th grade!

Student 6

Student #6 is 13-years-old. She’s been playing softball with WYSA and was invited to play with the All Stars softball team! She’s a hitter and gets up there and just wacks the ball. Because she’s so small, people don’t expect her to be that good, but she is, and thrives at it. Her mom is divorced with 3 other children and is a popular third-grade teacher at Jacobs Well Elementary. She says she can’t downsize anymore and is having a hard time covering rent and other bills, so is taking on side work over the summer. Her daughter won’t be able to play without support. WYSA All Stars is $179 for this summer. They do not offer scholarships.

Students 5

Students 5 are two brothers and a sister.  The boys, who are 13- and 9-years-old, have always wanted to learn martial arts because their dad practiced martial arts when he served in the military.  Their little sister is 4-years-old, and she is in constant motion.  Mom wants her to go to the summer camp that teaches a lot of different types of movement, so she can find out what her daughter loves. Their dad is 100% combat disabled and their mom is his caretaker. They’re on a fixed income and have a very tight budget that pays for necessities. Summer camp is perfect for the kids because it doesn’t take a large time commitment, taking mom away from their father who needs full-time care. Please help their children with martial arts summer camp that costs $150/ child and gymnastics camp that is $120 for their daughter.

Students 4

Students 4 are a 7-year-old brother and 6-year-old sister who attend Blue Hole Primary.  They love to pretend they’re ninjas and are so excited to learn karate.  Their mom would like them to do a sport they can take together, too, for a bonding experience.  She is a teacher’s aide working toward her teaching certificate. Their father is between jobs and this is a temporary set back.  The karate class is one day a week from June – August and is $80.00 per child.  Karate uniforms are $35 each.  Please help their children with summer classes for $160 and karate uniforms for $70.

Students 3

Students #3 are a brother and sister in sixth and seventh grade. The boy is age 11 and loves playing basketball all the time. He’d like to go to Texan Hoops Camp with his friends, starting on May 31st. His mom would also like him to try football camp in July.

The girl, age 13, is very athletic and would play any sport that fits in with her busy gymnastics schedule. She’s been competing in gymnastics since she was seven and placed 5th last week in the Gold Regionals 2022, which includes 7 states. She also loves playing volleyball and would like to go to camp in July. None of the camps offer scholarships.

Their mom is divorced without child support and has three jobs in Wimberley, including restaurant work, and elder care. Volleyball camp is $60. Basketball camp for her son is $75 and then football is probably $60. She has bills for gymnastics due in June. She asked if we can possibly help them find a sponsor for her daughter, or she will have to pull her from the sport. Please call us at 512-648-4400, if you’d like more information to sponsor her daughter’s love for gymnastics.

Students 2

Students #2 are sisters who are ages 5 and 12. They hope to be able to take dance camp over the summer.  The 5-year-old already dances about the house in joy. The 12-year-old loved dance class before her parents divorce. Their mom says her ex-husband isn’t paying child support, so she’s doing everything she can to keep up with the daily household bills. She is thankful for the community help because her oldest is going through some bad times and this would be a physical outlet for her and an opportunity to make friends with kids her age.

Please help Students #2. Dance camp for the 5-year-old is $150. Leotards and tights are on her Wish List. Dance for the 12-year-old is $175 and there is a leotard on her Wish List.
