Need:
$565 car payment for 2 months, and $230 car insurance payment for 2 months
Circumstances:
The owner of Leinneweber Services, Donna, was proud of her long-time employee, Niki, who left in May to be a caregiver for her ailing father. Niki had always been a hard worker and had put the business first, but now her family needed her. Before she left, Niki sold some things for extra money, and then her family came to Wimberley to help her move and travel across the country. After a couple of months of being her father’s care giver, things weren’t working out, as sometimes happens with even the best-laid plans. Her stepmother had been counting on receiving benefits to pay for the caretaking job and that fell through. Niki scrambled to find a supplemental job because she was out of money and had bills to pay. Job offers were half the income she needed. She skipped a car payment and then another. She was late on her car insurance, phone bill and struggled to pay for the medication she needs. Her bank account went into overdraft. She also hadn’t realized how much she’d miss Wimberley and her friends, who were like family, even missing her long-time customers.
Donna told us that Leinneweber customers hadn’t stopped asking about Niki, and so she welcomed her back two weeks ago. Niki’s previous full-time job had filled, and now she’s working 25 hrs a week while she looks for another job. Donna is helping her get back on her feet financially with what she can, with housing, but Niki is far behind on her car payments and worried about losing her car that she’s been so careful about. This experience has been very emotional for her, too, putting a strain on her family relationships. Donna told us that Niki has such a generous spirit and hopes the community can help. She remembers when Niki was in a financially secure position in the past, she was incredibly generous. One instance she recalled was when Niki had noticed a person in distress working at a local food truck and when Niki found out the problem, she financially helped them.
Please help Niki with two months of car payments and two months of car insurance so that she won’t lose her vehicle. The car payment is $565.00/month and car insurance is $230.00/month. If you’d like to help Niki with a part-time job, please contact WGN at 512-648-4400.
Nicki didn't get the full $1590.00 requested, but the community generously helped with two months of car payments that will be paid to the servicer. The $135.00 balance will be applied towards car insurance. She is thankful to the community, and for her employers at Leinneweber who helped her with this fundraiser.
